My good friend went there for his degree. Big gear head as well. Now works on CAT diesel's at their headquarters. He loved it and did Formula SAE while he was there as well.

NICE!

I too am going through the college process. heard back from my first school last week. Pitt accepted me into one of their other campus's. I probably would have gotten in if my application when through when it should have grumble grumble.

still, It feels good to get into any college, doesn't it?

It's in Indiana and (quoted from their papers and stuff) "ranked #1 undergraduate engineering college." The Hulman part of the name comes from Tony Hulman, who owned the Indy Motor Speedway for a few decades and donated a ton of money.

Congrats. Good school. What area of engineering are you looking at. Aerospace is the coolest, but lesser areas of interest are tolerated. ;)

I originally wanted to do aerospace but have decided to go more towards ME purely because there are more job opportunities.

"#1 undergraduate engineering college"

Talk about misleading statements, they are 'number one' because they are about the only engineering school worth mentioning that doesn't offer any doctoral degrees. Don't get me wrong though, its not a bad school. Just not as good as they are trying to imply. Congrats, and good luck with the rest.

Good logic, but less fun. We hire a bunch of MEs at my airline. They are pretty much interchangeable. If you start looking at coops after you get into school keep the airlines in mind. Good experience.

Yes sir. I love both airplanes and automobiles. I figured engineering would be the best route to go. My dream job would probably be becoming a "field" engineer for some motorsports team.

No, don't do that. You could give it to me instead :P Would you ever be up for a Middle of Indiana/Purdue area Jalop meet-up? I'm thinking of maybe organizing one in the spring.

Yeah that would be awesome. Actually, a friend's dad owns a really cool little grocery store out in some farm land that we've been talking about doing a cruise in at for a real long time now. It's in the Carmel area which is about an hour and fifteen from Purdue, but I'd really be down for any location because I know there's a few of us out here.

Airline's do internships or just co-ops? I'm looking for a place to intern this summer.

Heads up—My buddy's older brother went here, and I'm not badmouthing the school because it must be one of or the best engineering schools in the states, but the social scene (drinking) is quite sad. Also, it's in the middle of nowhere Indiana. Not sure if you're much of a partier, just giving you a heads up.

For engineers Delta does coops. It just ales too much training to make interns worthwhile on our side. Three semester coops are worth it.

Very cool. I have friends who went on from Purdue to be engineers for race teams. One of my good friends went to work for Murph McKinney north of Layette right after we graduated working an NHRA cars. You should drop them a note as they are close to you. See if you can get on for the summer. This friend then went on to work with Indycar teams and is now an Indycar official dealing with electrical and ECUs. Another friends as an engineer with Sam Schmidt Racing and another is with IMSA as an official. Your dream is obtainable.

Be careful. 100% of the people I know that graduated from Rose Hulman w/ degrees in ME are now working full time in motorsport.

We have been known to have interns during the summer. I had an intern for the ALMS/WEC race this year. We don't really have a co-op program though.
